Pharmaceutical Product Modularization as a Mass Customization Strategy to Increase Patient Benefit Cost-Efficiently

Customized pharmaceutical products aim to comply with the individual needs of a patient enhance treatment outcome. The current production paradigm is, however, dominated by mass production, where embrace one-size-fits-all design low possibility optimization needs. This is not designed or intended for customized and operating this context argued be cost-inefficient. To address challenge inefficient products, study proposes an approach modular product design. As customization strategy, modularization enables serving customers cost-efficiently. proposed integrate three requirements originating from needs: scalable dose strength, flexible target release profile, size. An assess value these designs presented, means proposing benefit metrics complying respective cost metric assessing producing designs. Results suggest that can, keeping number produced components low, substantially increase external variety and, hence, outcome patients. Furthermore, results indicate achieved through increases beyond additional costs arising during production. However, careful must performed optimize tradeoff between increased cost.
